Lisa, Beech Hill and Fiberfest
This past weekend was a trifecta of good times. I went to the Devon countryside to visit my friend Lisa who moved to Beech Hill Community in January. It's a community that shares a large country house where they grow their own food with a commitment to greener living.
Storm and Becks.
Here are some pics of the garden
On the Sunday we drove through Exeter and went to Fiberfest. It's a haven of wool and all things related to it (including the animals). There was a captivating exhibit called "under the sea". I have a sea creature obession so I was transfixed.Tuesday, 23 August 2011

second block
Here it is... My second union jack block. One of my favorite fabrics is Robert Kaufman's Barn Dandy print. I wanted to use for a block and decided to pair it with a dog print by Marcus Brothers. It looks like a bandana but has dog shilouettes on it instead. I near got it finished Noah (our cat) kept sitting on it as I was feeding it through the machine

Sarah's Union Jack Quilt
A while back I blogged about my friend Sarah's clever union jack quilt... She designed her own pattern which is for sale in her etsy shop.http://www.etsy.com/listing/75997702/the-jack-union-jack-quilt-pdf
I met her while she was living in sunny Britian but she has returned to he homeland, Canada. I miss her very much.....crocodile tears.
I've just finished my first block. The pattern is very well written and easy to understand. I'm going to make each one of them in different fabrics. This block is made with different robot, rocket and alien prints. I happen to have 3 half yard of each~ decision made. I just realized as I was editing the pictures that I've inverted the order on the right side of the flag. I may or may not unpick... we'll see.

String Quilt
Here it is! My first quilt. It 's a string quilt with a small border on the back. It's been really fun to make and very easy... not a fiddley. I'm not as happy with the back because the lines are wonky. I used a quilting bar and I think it moves around and the machine vibrates. I'm not sure what I'll do with it. It's big enough to be a pram quilt or a playmat. I chose something small to have a go with.
New Summer Skirt
I've been saving this Heather Ross Mechino fabric for a couple of years. I love this fabric and could only get a couple of yards of it before it went out of print. I decided on a new summer skirt. It's a simple A-line shape which is lined with a back zip. You can't quite see the shape in this picture because the hanger is a bit wonky.
